Insignificant Memories

by denisevlogs on Apr.28, 2009, under Uncategorized

Isn’t it weird how you can COMPLETELY lose memory of an event… and then all of sudden something happens to trigger it and it intensely implants itself back into your brain?

And if this little thing did not trigger your memory… then the memory wouldn’t exist. Might as well have never happened.

Significant memories hold their place in my mind… but there is SO much more in between that has been lost. It’s sad to me to think about how most of my life kind of doesn’t exist because I can’t remember a lot of it.

But I guess it’s the same kind of sad that I feel for the possibility that there is nothing after death. If we just cease to exist.

It’s sad in the conscious thought… but if we can’t actually experience the lack there of then there will be no sadness to experience. Just like if we don’t remember what we’re not remembering… there obviously is no sense of sadness over that loss.

Does that make sense?

It makes sense to me so shut the hell up! Go read someone else’s blog. Pshhh.

Some people have bad memories. The cool thing about memories, like you mentioned, is that they can be snapped back to your brain with any small trigger. Smells, sights, sounds, and so on.

I still have random smells remind me of things I thought I’d long forgotten. It’s neat.

This is a great thought. However I look at it the other way. Im happy I dont have the memories. The point is happiness in life. I look for happiness in the current moment and stuff Im gonna do in the future. Good luck with your critical thinking. I really enjoy when you put up posts like this. Makes me think too.

:) Gets a little confusing towards the end, but understandable.

Yeah, this blog totally brought another memory back to conciousness. That memory happened to be me remembering something because of something small someone did.

BUT, we only need to remember the things that are important. If we remembered everything, it would possible stress us out and overload our brains.

All these little things that don’t matter just floating on the surface. Waiting to be picked up.

Some things are best to forget.

Also, when some of these things come back, it brings on that great feeling of nostalgia.
